• How other communities in Montana have solved similar challenges

• How to move forward together and overcome Park County’s livability issues with local solutions

About the Speaker

Kristin Smith, PhD, is a researcher at Headwaters Economics with a focus in rural economies. Her research on hazards, natural resources, and rural economic development is informed by her on-the-ground work with local governments and technical experts. She recently co-authored the “2026 Montana State of Rural Report” with Julia Haggerty, Department Head of Earth Sciences at Montana State University.

This keynote presentation kicks off our inaugural We Will Summit, a two-day event where neighbors and leaders from across the county will gather to explore practical, collaborative ways to strengthen the livability of Park County through the lens of the five We Will Priority Areas. Subject matter experts from each priority area will facilitate group sessions with Park County’s top leaders.
