Pitching Your Project
In the world of nonprofit fundraising, we sometimes get only a few minutes (or a few hundred words) to make our case. Whether we are speaking directly to a donor, drafting a short project description, or creating a video submission along with our grant proposal, it is crucial for both the words we select and the way in which we deliver them to be succinct, compelling, and persuasively charismatic. In this workshop, we will explore the use of the three rhetorical appeals — ethos (credibility), pathos (passion), and logos (logic) — to craft a quick and dirty, yet wildly effective project pitch.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Nico Wood Kos is grant writer, interpretive park ranger, and professional storyteller with a PhD in Communication. She has written more than 30 successful grant proposals to city, county, and state-level agencies, as well as universities, nonprofit groups, and philanthropic organizations. She chairs the grants committee for Electric Peak Arts Council and oversees the evaluation and distribution of grants by North Yellowstone Education Foundation’s Connect! Grants program. She lives in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone with her husband and two daughters.
