Economy Action Plans

Business Growth

Ted Madden of PCCFBusiness Development Team

In March of 2010, Park County Community Foundation gathered 33 local business leaders, banks and institutions to discuss the status of economic development and initiatives occurring in Park County.

Six of the top 10 Park County employers along with bankers, city and county officials and other business representatives were in attendance. For more details of that meeting, see our Economic Summit page.

As a result of the economic summit, several ideas for creating a more formalized process for economic development in Park County were discussed.

The PCCF will act as facilitator for ongoing meetings of a core group of local business advocates and leaders to further identify specific action plans for moving forward. The next meeting will be scheduled for May 2010.

Please contact the PCCF for more information.

Business Inventory

Studies have shown that as many as 80% of new jobs are created by existing businesses.  The Livingston Job Service is actively working with local businesses to develop an inventory of information that will assist the community with business development and job growth.

This inventory will be one of the tools used in the overall strategy for economic development in Park County.  To create this inventory, Livingston Job Service is using a state wide program called BEAR (Business Expansion and Retention).

The BEAR Program pulls together local business and community Economic Summit Participantsleaders to form a volunteer assessment team to address local needs. Assessment team members are trained in both the assessment process and in interviewing. Local area businesses who request the free service are visited by interviewers from the Assessment Team to conduct on-site surveys of the issues and needs of their local business. After reviewing the confidential survey the Assessment Team connects the client business to state, area, and local resources that that will assist with the identified needs and issues.

The BEAR project is available in Gallatin, Park, Sweet Grass, Meagher and Wheatland counties.

See the Livingston Job Service website for more information about this program or contact them for more information.
