Women who have access to adequate health services before, during, and after childbirth have better outcomes and healthier children (Levi, Cimons & Johnson, 2008).
According to the Kids Count Data Center, the definition for low birth rate is: Live births weighing less than 2,500 grams (5.5 pounds). The data reflects the mother’s place of residence, not the place where the birth occurred.
