Phase 1 project overview:
Using guidelines from the Community Indicators Consortium and working directly with the broadest range of stakeholders we will establish an advisory group that will help develop a preliminary list of community indicators to best analyze critical needs and assets throughout the county.
Once the indicators are established data collection methodology and sources will be identified for each indicator. Baseline data will be collected, documented and made accessible to the citizens of Park County.
Phase 1: Expected Outcomes:
- Increase community awareness of and focus on priority issues
- Increase consistency of community data & data gathering methods
- Increase the use of indicators/measurements in service provider’s strategic planning
- Establish collaboration between service providers
- Increase philanthropic activity by Park County residents for Park County services
Phase 1: Project Deliverables:
A base set of indicators for Park County Montana (no greater than 20 for phase 1) which meet the criteria recommended by the Community Indicator's Consortium to identify and track the community’s definition of vitality in Park County
- An established methodology for data collection
- Consistent and reliable data sources for each indicator
- Baseline measurements for each data source (current measurement)
- A public accessible communication tool (website) to display indicator data
- A process for ongoing data collection/publication of phase 1 indicators
- A public accessible Park County service provider database (via website)

Phase 2: Project Overview:
Once the indicators are in place and reliable data sources are established and accessible there will be a need to interpret and evaluate the data, identify and prioritize the needs, determine goals for addressing those needs, and create and manage the action plans needed to meet those goals .
Phase 2 of the indicator project will be to facilitate these activities working with the service providers, community members, and advisors to implement changes that have a positive affect on the community vitality of Park County.
Phase 2: Expected Outcomes:
- Continue to increase community awareness of and focus on priority issues
- Continue to increase the sense of community of Park County residents
- Continue to increase consistency of community data & data gathering methods
- Continue to increase the use of indicators/measurements in service provider’s strategic planning
- Increase the collaboration between service providers
- Continue to increase the capacity of service providers via collaboration & education
- Increase the number of recipients of services in Park County
- See positive results in indicator data as corresponding projects are completed
- Increase philanthropic activity by Park County residents for Park County services
Phase 2: Project Deliverables:
- Formed focus groups for each area of need (health care, education, economy, etc)
- Benchmark measurement for each data source (goal)
- A prioritize list of needs to be addressed & goals
- Action plans (goals, tasks, timelines, budgets, resource assignments) for each identified goal
- Ongoing facilitation of collaborative activity until completion of action plans
- Training for focus groups as identified
